A Franco-American collaboration

The June 2026 commemorative jumps came together as a partnership between Icehopp LLC and Kesa’co Parachutisme, bringing jumpers across the Atlantic to Normandy. On the ground and in the air alongside us were reenactor groups including the Airborne Center and the Round Canopy Parachuting Team, who jump in period gear under round canopies — the way it was done in 1944.

Gruesome flies again

The star of the show was the 1943 Dakota “Gruesome”, a restored DC-3 Skytrooper that flew missions during WW2. It dropped us over Graignes, where elements of the 82nd Airborne Division had been dropped by mistake 18 miles off their target DZ, the worst mis-drop of any U.S. airborne unit on D-Day. That mistake led to gruesome combat and massacres.

Merci to Bruno Passe and the Paramag team for the coverage.
